‘Arab’ is an Arabic word which means the desert or its inhabitants and in the Quran the word  ‘Arab’ is used to describe the Bedouins - the nomadic herdsmen. The traditions and culture of the bedouins are centuries old. They live a nomadic life roaming across the hot desert with their camels and herds of goats and sheep. They live in tents woven from goat hair and usually gather together in large groups near oases.

In 1932 Arab was named the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after the name of King Ibn Saud who fought many victorious battles against rivals and expanding his rule over region by region. In 1940's the centuries-old ways of life began to change when existence of petroleum was discovered in this desert Kingdom. As time passed more and more oil fields were discovered.
