Manfakh
...Air Blower

T
he ancient Arabs used air blower or "Manfakh" to glow charcoal fire by blowing air through it to keep warm ‘gahwa’ kept inside a coffee pot or Dallah.

The air blower is made of wood beautifully carved in two parts. Both the parts are joined firmly with leather so that air do not escape from the joins and the hollow cavity inside can accommodate sufficient air. A small opening is left on the narrow end of it to which a hollow cylindrical pipe made of metal is fixed.

To blow the air through the air blower the two wooden parts are stretched apart by both the hands as a result the air is sucked inside the hollow cavity and then it is forced towards each other releasing air with force through the nozzle.
