Jambiyya ...Open Dagger and Sheath |
|
|||
The curved dagger or “Jambiyya” with its sheath was a weapon used by most of the bedouin tribesmen until the second quarter of this century. It was a tradition among the ancient tribesmen to wear the sheathed jambiyya on the side of their waist which they regarded themselves as properly dressed. The crescent shaped jambiyya were designed by the tribes’ silversmiths and were kept inside a beautifully decorated sheath. It was designed with a curve at the end to avoid being stabbed himself by the wearer while sitting or horse riding. |
