Rafa'at Betrol ...Oil Derrick |
|
|||
In 1930’s Oil Well #7 in Dammam was the first to turn Arabia’s fortunes when the American geologists got the permission by King Abdul Aziz to drill into his arid land. In 1943 an impressive change in wealth occurred in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and centuries-old ways of life began to alter. As time went by more and more oil fields were discovered. It is believed that Saudi Arabia holds a quarter of the known oil reserves of the world. The oil derrick or “Rafa'at Betrol” is a framework or tower of steel erected over the deep drill holes of oil wells to support the tackle for boring, to raise and lower the drilling tools in the well and to insert and remove the well pipe. |
