Marrash ...Essence Pot |
|
|||
In ancient days the Arabs carried the aromatic attar along the legendary camel caravan routes. The use of essence is a common tradition for centuries by the Arabs. They prefer to have alcohol free essence since the use of alcohol is restricted in Islam. One of the most appreciated scents is the attar of roses, simply made from crushed rose petals. Other scents include jasmine, lavender, henna, etc. These sweet smelling scents are kept in beautiful pots or "Marrash" craftsmen design to store the attar. It has an oval shaped base with a long and slender projection, at the top of which some uniform holes are made to pour out the essence by shaking the pot by the hand. |
