he Arabs use different types of vessels with variety of names for over 2000 years depending on its use for trade, fishing, cargo and pearl diving. “Boom” is one of those names for high-masted sea-going vessel. The design of this ancient craft has been hardly changed at all over the centuries.

The boom is traditionally built by wood such as teak, mangrove and acacia, without using nails and mechanized instruments. The size of the boom range in length from six feet long which is inshore fishing vessel to the larger vessels used for ocean freight for trade and cargo.
